Job Description

Our client in Elyria is looking for a Medical Receptionist/Office Assistant to join their team!
Shift
- 1st Shift Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
Responsibilities
• Physicians Related
- Calling hospital for direct admit of patients.
- Paging physician with new consults or when hospital needs to speak to them
- Calling other physicians for doctors when needed
• Patient Care
- Greet incoming patients
- Daily patient scheduling and rescheduling
- Check in and check out, give patient visit summary that has next appointment and any new orders from physician
- Follow up reminder calls.
- Call reminder for patients that have not done blood work in time for appt.
- Calling labs to get results for upcoming appointments
- Explain medication and/or diet to patients upon checkout plus handout.
- Send in prescriptions refill when necessary.
- Scheduling certain test per doctors i.e. ultrasound, MRI, MRA…etc
• Claims/Billing
- Collecting and entering co-pays.
- Making sure patient insurance is updated each visit and cards are scanned in
• Office
- Answering all incoming calls & direct them accordingly.
- Sort and distribute incoming faxes.
- Entering patient’s demographics including new referrals
- Make sure all handouts are made
- Making sure waiting room is ready for patients
- Help call for prior authorizations
- Fax over medical records if requested
- Turning phones over to answering service whenever needed plus informing them as a reminder who is on call.
- Inform office manager when supplies are low.
- Incoming and outgoing mail
Job Requirements
Requirements
- Some knowledge of common Medical Terminology used
- At least 1 year of administrative experience
- Friendly and hospitable demeanor
